Coir is the organic fibre from the husk of a coconut. It is cleaned and treated to provide an excellent potting medium or a supplementary addition to compost and soil. It is mainly sourced from India and Sri Lanka it is used for a variety of products not just for gardening due to its durability and inability to break down. This makes coir a sustainable and renewable product with many applications and uses around the garden.

Coir has an optimum structure and purity and will not compact like soil. This gives the roots of your plant more time and space to search for nutrients whilst preventing waterlogging as the plant only holds as much water as it needs. It has been written that coir can hold up ten times its own weight in water.

Using Coir ensures your plants are free from any harmful diseases that could occur from using a soil-based medium. However, when combined with selected organic material the results can often be surprising. Also, any plant with nutrient deficiencies is easier and quicker to fix than it would be in soil with coir being able to hold up to 30% more nutrients and responds well to water flushing.

Only premium certified perlite is used in the products

The Blue Staff coir pre-mix is formulated using a small batch procedure that delivers constantly the same high quality medium every time.
